The Future of Travel in Greenland
Visit Greenland has received “The People’s Voice Award” in the “Travel and Adventure” category of the 2021 Webby Awards. This recognition came with a video selected from 13,500 entries across 70 countries. Greenland, known for its stunning natural landscapes, fresh air, and spacious surroundings, is gearing up for the future of travel after COVID-19. The country prominently faces climate change, experiencing average temperature increases that are twice as high as the global average.
The award-winning video, initially made for the travel trade show Vestnorden, encourages Greenlanders to explore their own country amid international travel restrictions. This led to the launch of a local staycation campaign, Nunarput Nuan, which was warmly embraced by the residents. The campaign demonstrated that even during challenging times, positive experiences can emerge.
As international travel resumes, Greenland eagerly welcomes visitors to experience its unique attractions, such as sheep farms, stand-up paddling in ice fjords, and hikes to basalt columns and black beaches. These activities have been thoroughly enjoyed and endorsed by locals. Keep an eye out for the winning video to get a glimpse of what awaits you in Greenland.
