Borrowing My Baby’s Summer Beauty Essentials

Borrowing My Baby’s Summer Beauty Essentials

I’ve got a blog post title that I never expected to type. You might think I’m out of my mind. With countless summer beauty products for adults, why would anyone choose baby products?

Since George was born, I’ve discovered that some baby products are not just cheaper but even better than adult ones. In the past, I’ve splurged on summer beauty products for beach holidays. This year, I’m on a budget and borrowing George’s stuff.

Baby oil + salt = amazing sugar scrub

I’m a huge fan of the Sanctuary Salt Scrub, so I was thrilled to find out that mixing salt with baby oil works almost as well. This trick is also super handy if you’re backpacking, as you can easily grab some salt sachets from cafes. Plus, baby oil is a fantastic multi-use product; it’s great for removing waterproof makeup too. Just a heads-up: if you’re using this scrub in the bath, be cautious. The baby oil can make the tub dangerously slippery – a big apology to Sam, who learned this the hard way.

Nipple cream

Okay, I know many of you might cringe at this, but hear me out. Have you ever tried Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream? Either the lip balm or the skin protectant? If so, you know it’s incredible, often endorsed by celebs and models for its skin-softening magic. But, it’s pretty pricey for a small tube. I found out that Medela Nipple Cream is just as good. If you swapped the tubes, I wouldn’t be able to tell the difference! Even if you’re not breastfeeding, this stuff is fantastic and only costs £3.50!

Baby wipes

As a mom, I now buy baby wipes in bulk because we use them for everything. When I’m too exhausted for a proper face wash, I use them to remove makeup. They’re also perfect for freshening up while traveling.

Bottom Butter

Waitrose Bottom Butter (£3.20) is fantastic, especially for dry skin. I apply it to my elbows, knees, and ankles before using fake tan to avoid those orange patches. It’s being compared to high-end face creams like Crème de la Mer, which costs nearly £1,000!

Sudocrem

Sudocrem nappy rash cream might not have the best smell, but it’s fantastic for dry patches of skin. Does anyone else get random dry circles on their arms? It’s also great for treating spots overnight.

Johnson’s Baby Shampoo

I’ve previously spent a lot on expensive shampoos from hair salons, especially since I wear hair extensions and need products without harsh chemicals. I wish I knew sooner that Johnson’s Baby Shampoo works just as well! It leaves my hair soft and doesn’t tangle my extensions.

Do you have any baby beauty products you like to use?
